I so hope you can find a way to begin again on York. Though I am lucky to have friends in the small, southern town where I live, I am surrounded by religious bigots who have a dreadful, condemnatory view of anyone who is different from them. At best it is offensive—-and often oppressive. If a middle aged, white retired librarian like me feels this way, how much worse it must be for people of color or members of the LGBTQ community! I cannot fathom how American society has regressed in the last few years—-not just stopped moving toward more acceptance of people, but actually gone backwards. Perhaps it is the same where you are.
